the simple moments

I carry my camera always on my shoulder. Snapping pictures of my life. What's transpiring. I carry my dear Olympus to my downtown. I carry it to our simply tea party. I even carry it to walmart. Why? Because I want to pause the simple moments of my life so that I may always remember. Remember that life is made up of the simple things. However minute, or small.
I pause the day that my sister and I went to my local bead store to find a gift for a dear friend. I pause the day my three sisters, mother, two nieces, nephew and I have a tea party (my poor nephew, stuck with so many girls!). I pause the day I crochet in the kitchen, with my sister and a spot of tea before me.

Somehow, pausing the simply moments make all the big moments worthwhile.

it's a beautiful thing

Please listen to this song while reading this post.

My three year old niece plays quietly in the corner. My nephew takes a long gaze out the window and starts at my presence. Empty plates are pushed gently forward at our 12 foot long country table. Cold fingers are wrapping around steaming hot cocoa mugs. My six year old niece slips six smooth rocks into my jacket pocket. The sun is peeping quietly through the trees.

Life. It's such a beautiful thing.

auctions

Yesterday I went to an old Arkansas auction in the middle of nowhere with two of my sisters, brother-in-law and niece. We drove along an old country road with blaring worship music. We cheered and clapped every time we passed a Romney/Ryan yard sign. We slowed the car down let a passing deer go by. We took pictures of sleeping elderly men. We bid on fishing poles and such. And watched as Arkansas unraveled her true colors. Readers, I live in an eccentric state, to be sure...

Have a good day!

swingin'

(last picture is of moi. taken by my sister)

Swinging.  It's one of the happiest pastimes for those of us deep-thinkers, solitude-seekers.  I think I enjoy it most because of the whimsical perfectness of simply letting go... releasing the tight grips of life and tossing them away into the accelerating breeze.  Or it may be just the happy feeling of wind playing with my hair..

either way, it's a happy thing.
